This is a super hi-end state-of-the-art infra-red remote volume control, or single input and single output passive pre-amplifier. This volume control has 100 levels which can be controlled by an infra-red remote hand-held control or manually by the push buttons installed in the face plate. This unit features volume up/down and a mute function. The signal quality of this 100 step volume pot is up to the highest standards, the attenuation of the signal is operated purely by resistor networks and relay contact switches. There are no integrated circuits or solid state devices to attenuate the input signal, so no extra noise or solid state distortion will be induced into the original signal. This produces the purest and most precise result. This unit can run continuously, so resetting levels are not required when repowering the system.

The chassis is built in a standard 17"width x 12" depth size, so stacking underneath any pre-amp, power-amp, or CD player is easily facilitated. A pair of one foot high-end OFC interconnect cables will ship with this unit for easy connection to the desired component. Even though the pre-amp under control has it own volume pot, all you need to do is to set the pre-amp volume level to a 9-12 o'clock position, then leave the actual loudness control to this superlative unit. The lower photo shows the QA-001 pre-amp at work with the RV-101. The other advantage of using this remote control with your amp is setting the pre-amp volume control to slightly above the maximum normal listening level, then just control the output level with this remote control. So no matter which remote setting is selected, it will not exceed the loudest level needed.

Standard input impedance of this remote volume control is 30Kohm, but you can ask for any optional value such as 5K/10K/20K/50K/100K/250K/1Mohm .
