This is a fully balanced input and balanced output state-of-the-art pre-amplifier. The QA-808-super boasts an ultra heavy current tube rectifier and a regulated power supply with NOS oil filter capacitors. A separate filament transformer and high-voltage transformer enhances the dynamic range and clarity. This pre-amplifier is built with no compromise in component quality, and boasts qualities that you can hear in the characteristic delivery of this preamp: very sweet and realistic sound quality, with excellent dynamic range, musicality, high definition and a very detailed, deep sound stage. The tube regulator stage acts to tighten up the bass punch without compromise. This pre-amp is suitable for any type of music reproduction, we believe it can outperform any mass-market available pre-amp within any price range.

An AC/DC filament selector switch has been recently added to this wonderful model to give even more flexibility to match your musical requirements, An AC filament sound is more musical and sweet, but might have greater filament noise which can be detected by test equipment but might or might not be audible by the human ear (speaker efficiency dependent ). A DC filament sounds dead quiet with tighter bass punch, but you will lose part of the pure tube sound, and is more suitable for pop/rock/new age. So the choice is yours, and control is in your hands.

There is a very special feature on this pre-amp, it is equipped with a Dynamic control pot, which can let you choose the operation of the circuit in order to set the dynamic range and pace of the music reproduction. This will provide further flexibility to achieve perfection in sound quality. This variable setting feature exhibits no difference in specification by measuring equipment, it will be readily apparent to the human ear, however.

This model features two sets of RCA + XLR outputs, one set is a standard normal impedance output (which is suitable for normal 47Kohm or above input impedance amplifer connections). The other set is a super low output impedance drive (which can connect to any 600ohm or above input impedance). This set of super low impedance outputs is especially suitable for low frequency amplifiers driving a bi-amped system, it can give out a tighter and punchier bass control. This super low output imdepance circuit is built with pure solid-state components.

This pre-amp is also equipped with a headphone output.

The output buffer stage characteristics can be changed with over 10 different types of tubes: (6G6/6L6/6V6/6Y6/6K6/EL34/6550/KT66/KT88/KT90/KT100) for superb flexibility in tuning to match the rest of your system.

Now available is a super rectifier tube up-grade for the 5U4G, which can greatly enhance the dynamics, high and low frequency extension, and bass punch. A stand-by switch for pre-heating of the rectifier tubes is also available to ensure the longest lifetime operation. Rectifier tubes are replaceable with high quality ceramic sockets installed.

The 5U4G tube rectifier can further upgrade by our super rectifier STR-104 or higher models , direct plug and play without any mod required.

With this super rectifier adaptor, you can use 300B, 2A3 , 45 , 50 , 80, 83, 1616 , 3B28 or 866A as rectifier tubes option.

Special designed "Super-Drive" circuit, output impedance lowered to 200ohm (can drive any power amp inputs from 600ohm up to infinity) with better bass control and punch , better definition and improved in overall tonal quality. With this level of upgrade, just add another $50 and you can have a headphone output with enough power and current to drive your headphone directly.
