Using 6SL7 tube in the amplification circuit, and 6SN7 in the output, this configuration drives a pair of very high grade 600ohm balanced output transformers, which can give you exceptional richness and a warm feeling inside the music. The layering of musical instruments and the naturalness of the music will be further enhanced. The 6SN7 driver stage is a state-of-the-art design by the resident engineer, Albert, which allows the output transformer to be driven without a coupling capacitor, and will not have any DC current passing through the transformer (DC current passing through the transformer will degrade the low and high frequency response, because DC current will saturate the Tx iron core). This unit is built with a 5U4G tube rectifier and enhanced power supply, which gives you the best price-performance in this type of configuration.

There is one up-grade option available with this model of pre-amp, the new version can be built with a direct tube / transformer selectable RCA output. That option makes this pre-amp sound quality somewhere between the QA-115 and QA-116. For some faster types of music, not employing the output transformer can be an advantage, but for some classical, vocals and jazz, using the output transformer will definitely have certain advantages. A switchable output configuration is an excellent idea in order to match any type of music and audio system.

The 5U4G tube rectifier can further upgrade by our super rectifier STR-104 or higher models , direct plug and play without any mod required.

With this super rectifier adaptor, you can use 300B, 2A3 , 45 , 50 , 80, 83, 1616 , 3B28 or 866A as rectifier tubes option.
